October was a month that did not seem to have enough time; the weeks and days merged, leaving me feeling I had missed a whole day, only to catch up again once I got to that day. Was I zoning in and out of time? Or was I just not focused? As we reach the last few months of the year, time does seem to take on a feeling of acceleration, speeding up toward the end of the year. This feeling is compounded by Media advertising bombarding us with images of things yet to come.
As we age, time takes on a completely different feel and function in our lives. For some, they may feel time is running out and look back at missed opportunities. For others, time is an open space to be filled with new adventures with lots of scope for personal growth.
Society applies benchmarks upon us, milestones if you will, that we must meet at a certain point in our lives; however, the human life span is changing, and the benchmarks are no longer in step with society and lifestyle.
As I move towards my 60th year, I see a whole lifetime ahead of me still to be lived and filled with new possibilities. While upon reflection, my grandfather was all too eager to retire with no plan or focus, he had worked very hard in his life, and his reward was to switch off.
How has October been for you? Did you find time slipping away with not enough time to get things done? Are you feeling a change in the meaning of time within your lifestyle?
Whatever you are feeling about time, benchmarks or age?
Tomorrow is always another day; live it to the fullest and give thanks that a new dawn will arise and you get to start all over again.
