Reframe – the path to healing

Following on from my journey with my Reiki students, there was an interesting question asked about our past and how to explain the past without coming across as a victim. It is a fact that for some, being a victim to circumstances is a badge of honor – something to they talk about constantly, however this has a limiting effect on our lives and can become a stigma over time.

I have been mulling over the question posed and the answer I came to was – Re-frame the events into something more positive in their life. Instead of an event happening in their life, they can change it to – “due to this event, I have become……..”, this was perceived as more powerful and healing for this student.

I for one, have Re-framed many events in my life, what does this actually mean? For myself it is taking an event and using words that describe the event in a more positive/advantageous light in my life. This is not to deny the event but rather talk about it in my own terms and who I became due to the event. Every difficult situation will always have a positive and negative process in your life, choose the positive if possible.

One of the exercises I ask my student to do in the Mindful Manifestation retreat is to write a story about themselves. It is short – 2 paragraphs to be completed within 30mins. In the story you have access to every resource you need, there are no limits. This is a hugely powerful exercise and for some students it puts a completely different feel/emotion to past events. Seeing their life in a different light completely changes their perspective – This is Reframing!

As we move through another eventful year with global, domestic and personal events taking their toll, think about how to reframe some of the issues that have impacted you – what words can you use to better describe what has happened and the new positive you.

As always we are constantly becoming the very best version of ourselves and this exercise will help you towards that goal.

Until the next time. Blessings to you all
