Have you dealt with separation, a broken relationship, loss of a loved one or redundancy and that you are on your own, like an orphan? Although you are not orphaned in the literal sense, you may feel the same sense of loss and aloneness. The adult with an Orphaned Inner Child feels disconnected from their family group and carries a lot of pain and hurt. They see themselves as hard done by, that life is unfair, and feel adrift and orphaned from their family, society and the world. Sometimes, people choose to orphan themselves and shun others. To heal the Orphaned Inner Child, a person needs to step outside their pain, look at the world they reside in now and accept the support mechanisms available to them through family and friends.
