Tarot decks have been in existence since the 1400s and although they come in many different designs, the concept is the same. There is an acknowledgment that the games’ origins are from northern Italy, and the name comes from Tarocchi from the Taro River region. The decks of this period included philosophical, social, poetical, astronomical, and heraldic images from Roman, Greek, and Babylonian heroes.
